Training In Advanced Non-Verbal Communication For The Happiness And Well-Being Of People Living With Dementia

Communication and understanding is at the heart of the ‘person centred care’ model and we can help you to create and promote this ethos from top to bottom within your company.

If you wish your staff, carers, management or volunteers to learn this revolutionary, practical approach to communication with people living with age-related disorders including dementia please contact us at The VIE Group for more details. We can confidently say that no-one understands or uses the communication tools to the level and sophistication that we do. Our practical course is simple, effective, easy to learn and is unparalleled elsewhere.

Delivering Activities – Theatre skills and Creating Atmosphere

Delivering activities is hard no matter what the audience. Dealing with the unique qualities of people living with dementia can make a tough job even tougher. Due to limited budgets and limited abilities folks in residential care can often miss out on the sort of fun and pastimes that we get used to. This is unfortunate because even if the event is not remembered afterwards the elation and energy that is created by a fun activity can last for days afterwards.

We work one-on-one in situ to help an activities and entertainments coordinator to achieve their potential. Conversely we provide workshops and seminars to groups including untrained volunteers and general staff who need help in understanding the basic structure, format and range of an activity they may wish to offer. We can help you create hundreds of different activities that can be delivered by anyone at a minimal cost and also the means with which to get the best possible response from your clients to them.communication2

Tom has had a long and illustrious career in the performing arts having acted and sung leading roles all around the world in the biggest venues. Applying his knowledge to therapies and entertainments for people living in care has been his passion for the last ten years. There are unlimited ways to capture attention and create an enjoyable atmosphere and communication is key to all of them. Tom has created a method for training anyone to provide a fun, sustainable activity session or programme.

Our workshops will give your staff the confidence and skills they need to not only deliver an activity but to deliver it well.

Creating And Running Exercise Classes –

The core of the ‘signature’ VIE session is exercise and physical stimulation. Hire us to teach you to run your own chair-based exercise sessions. We can tutor you how to deliver a fun, safe and stimulating exercise session. With basic, fun choreography set to our own proprietary music you can be running your own exercise classes in a matter of days. We also give you the tools to personalise your sessions and music to suit yourself and your clients.

Bespoke Activities Programmes

These are particularly useful if your budget does not accommodate a permanent or regular entertainment and activities coordinator.
We offer bespoke activities programmes tailored to your clients’ abilities and preferences. These include quizzes, art programmes, reminiscence programmes, computer training and appreciation, games and activities and much more.

We can even train your regular staff or volunteers to provide entertainment based on their skill sets and build customised schedules. Additionally, we can provide materials, games, tools, music libraries, appropriate movie libraries and radio shows all tailored to your clients’ tastes including opera, jazz, musicals, pleasant background music and standards from popular entertainers from all decades.
